GAME TUTORIAL

All The Info You Need To Know In Order To Play

How To Play:

Craps is an interesting and exciting table game. Many people skip it as they see it as a complicated game to learn, compared to games like blackjack or roulette. This isn’t quite true and whilst there are a couple of concepts to learn, it’s a really exciting and great game to play. One of many great reasons to bring Jackpot Casino to your next event is that our dealers will teach you while you're playing! What a great way to learn, amongst all your friends, so no pressure and having a great time while doing it. No worries about losing any money as you are playing with chips, so there is no downside to the whole concept.

This section will break down the rules of craps. This includes Natural, Crapping Out, Point outcomes and the betting rules.

Craps betting round starts with a come-out roll. This is the first roll of the dice or the first one after the previous betting round has finished. The player who throws the dice is called 'the shooter'.

The shooter takes two dice and throws them on the craps table. The dice must hit the end wall to be a legal roll, it can bounce on the table first and then hit the wall. (as long as both die hit the end wall, the roll will be good roll) There are three possible outcomes:

  1. Natural
  2. Craps
  3. Point

What is a 'Natural' in Craps?

A 'Natural' means that the shooter rolled a 7 or an 11 on the come-out roll. When this happens, you win and get to roll the dice again.

What is 'Craps' or 'Crapping Out'?

You roll a 2*, 3, or 12. Here’s when you lose.

But the round is not over, and you get to roll again, until you establish a point.

* 2 - also known as Snake Eyes because each die has a 1 & they resemble a snakes eyes

Craps Table Layout

Betting in craps starts with understanding the craps table, so let’s look at at one:

The table layout has a handful of areas for different betting options. We reviewed how to shoot craps and how to evaluate the result of your beginning roll, let’s have a look at how to bet in a game of craps.

This is an introduction to Craps, we point this out so when you begin to play Craps, you may notice there are some things we won't have reviewed and we didn’t discuss, remember, this is an introduction to Craps.

At Jackpot Casino Events, we have 3 fun filled hours to teach you the basics of playing Craps. You will have a good working knowledge of playing the game after one of our events. If you choose to learn more about Craps, you will have a good bit of skill from playing while learning and we will have you much further along than if you "just read” how to play, watched a video how to play, or went to a casino and tried to learn on your own how to play.

So, let's continue with some other betting options in Craps.

Pass or Don’t Pass Bets in Craps

You can place a bet either on the 'Pass Line' or the 'Don't Pass Line'.

The Pass Line bet means you bet that the shooter will pass (win) by rolling out a natural or by winning the point before seven-ing out.
The Don’t Pass Line means betting on the opposite scenario. You bet that the shooter will not pass (lose). It can happen if the player shoots & gets a 2, 3, 12 (Craps) or fails to roll the point again before 7 rolls.

You can make these bets only before the point has been established on the table. Once the point has been rolled out and the shooter needs to roll the sum again, you can make a Come or Don’t Come Bet. These are similar to the Pass and Don’t Pass line bet, we will review these in a bit.

What is the Point in Craps?

This is when you roll a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10. During the game, a dealer will mark your Point (the rolled number) on the table, with a button, it’s white and says 'On'.

What you need to do now is to keep rolling the dice and get the same number (the point established) before you roll a 7. The dice can be any combination to “get the point”, it doesn’t have to be the same combination, as long as it’s the same sum – you win.

(i.e. If the point is 9, and 6 & 3 was rolled to establish the point, the dice can roll to a 4 & 5 to make the 9)

Once you understand this part, you can move on to the betting options. That’s the fun part because this is the part that can make you a lot of money. There are many places on the Craps table to bet. There are many combinations a shooter can get other than the point or a 7. All those rolls in between the point or a 7 are where you make (or lose) your money.

Come and Don’t Come Bets in Craps

Come Bets and Don’t Come are made on another outcome of the shooters roll. Here they are on the craps table:

Jackpot-Casino-Events-Game-Craps-0004

The Come Bet “wins” if a natural is rolled out and “loses” if craps are rolled. If the point is rolled out, it becomes the Come-Bet point.
Essentially, Come Bet works the same way as the pass line, while Don’t Come is identical to don’t pass. The only difference between them is that Come and Don’t Come are placed after a point has been established in the come-out roll (the puck is “on”).

Come & Don’t Come bets can be taken off. You bet and wait until it plays itself out. You can make additional bets on the come-bet point, too. Those can be withheld or increased at any time.

If a 12 is rolled for Come bet, your bet is a Pushed – meaning nothing happens. You don’t win, but you don’t lose either.

Proposition Bets in Craps

Proposition Bets are single roll bets made on any roll. This shows where those are located:

From top to bottom from this area on the table, these are the bets:

Bet  Wins if Shooter Rolls:
Seven   a 7
Hard Way  a 4, 10, 6, 8 (depends which you bet)
Aces    a 1 & 1
Boxcars    a 6 & 6
Ace Deuce   a 1 & 2
Any Craps a 2, 3, 12

Other Bets

These all pay 1:1

Place Bets in Craps

Once you know the point, you can bet on any number on the table. You win every time it’s rolled out before a 7. When a 7 is rolled, you lose and a new shooter is “up” and the new point will then be established as we reviewed in the beginning, and the entire process begins again.

Field Bets in Craps

This type of bet is only active for one dice roll. You win if a 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11, or 12 is rolled. If 5, 6, 7, or 8 is rolled then you lose.

Big 6 and Big 8 Bets in Craps

Make either of these bets if you think that 6 or 8 will be rolled before a 7.
